As soon as you enter the park, you can find the grassy square where Janseung is standing,
the name of that square is Jangseung yard.
The main character of the ‘6th Jangseung-gut unification of Korea’ that was held with
the opening of Democracy Park in 1999, ‘Unification hero’ and ‘Unification
heroin are located at the entrance of the park. This Jangseung was
sent by citizens of Jindo to honor the democratic spirit
of Busan. Jangseung is the patron saint sent to
protect Democracy Park from
undemocratic rule and
interruptions to the
unification of Korea.

Even the square is prepared along the slope depending on its topography; this square is a place of rest and enjoyment for families, and also has a stage for the Children’s Day Permanent Cultural Festival.
For this reason, various permanent folk events are held in the park, notably tug-of-war, tal-chum and pungmul play are held in Jangseung Yard. This place where green grass has been grown is a playground for the children who are visiting Democracy Park.
This square is also good for sharing snacks and having lunch with teachers and friends and seeing the sky while rolling around.
